3 B'baria doctors sent to jail for 'wrong treatment'

A court in Brahmanbaria on Wednesday ordered to send three doctors to jail on allegation of 'wrong treatment' that led to the death of a female school teacher.


Brahamanbaria district and Sessions Judge M Shafiul Azam passed the order in the afternoon rejecting their bail petition.
 

The accused physicians are: Dr Duke Chowdhury, director of Brahmanbaria Christian Memorial Hospital, Dr Aruneshwar Pal Avi and Dr Shahadat Hossain Russell.

 

Earlier on December 18,2019, the doctors appeared before the court after ending their four-week bail term and sought extension of their bail.

After hearing, the vacation bench of the sessions judge set today (January 1) to pass the order.

On November 13,2019, one Shihab Ahmed filed a case with the Chief Judicial magistrate Court accusing the three physicians of the death of his daughter Nawshin Ahmed Dia from wrong treatment.

According to the case statement, Nawshin, a kindergarten teacher, gave birth to a child in the hospital by Cesarean section on October 30 the same year.

But, the hospital authorities released her before complete cure, it said.

in the morning of November 4, Dia was again taken to the hospital following deterioration of her condition.

Dia became unconscious after the three accused doctors administered her worng injection and medicine.
